For families who are tired of going to the movies or to a park, you’ll be happy to know there are plenty of great things to do in Point Loma that is family-friendly. Check out this list and start making plans today!
If you find yourself at Cabrillo National Monument with your family, then you cannot miss the tide pools. Visiting the tide pools will give you an excellent chance to teach your children of all ages about marine life.
Not to mention, they’ll love getting their feet wet. To ensure you hit the perfect tide, you can consult the tide charts.
The park is opened every day from 9 am to 5 pm except for Christmass and Thanksgiving.
It’s challenging to find something fun the entire family will enjoy, however, this is not the case if you hit one of the many Point Loma trails.
These trails offer great views you will stop for pictures at any point.
And if your family’s thing is not hiking, you can always rent a bike and go for a ride along Cataline Boulevard all the way up to Cabrillo National Monument.
The crown jewel of Point Loma has to be the Cabrillo National Monument. When you visit Cabrillo National Monument, you’ll be stepping into the place where Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo stood when he discovered the San Diego Bay.
To make the most of your visit, you need to start at the visitor’s center and watched the “In Search of Cabrillo” short film.
Who doesn’t enjoy food? And while visiting Point Loma, you and your family have to try the best food the San Diego Bay has to offer.
Take your family to the Point Loma Seafoods to refuel before continuing your day of exploring. And If seafood is not their thing, there are plenty of delicious eats.
If your family is ready for a treat, stop by Liberty Public Market to taste everything San Diego has to offer.
Your children will enjoy gelato and the grownups can get a beer and tasty treats while sitting on the grassy area right outside the market. The entire family will enjoy an afternoon at the market.
While in Loma point, you cannot miss the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. The lighthouse served the San Diego Bay since 1855.
However, the fog and sometimes low clouds blocked the lighthouse light forcing the lighthouse to relocate elsewhere.
But you can still bring your family to see the old lighthouse and teach them about the old days.
There are plenty of things to see in Point Loma when you visit with the entire family. You can enjoy the outdoors, set up for a day of learning, and top it off with a tasty treat.
