When Was Liberty Station Built?

Liberty station was built as a military training ground for the navy in 1923. This made it the first ever training center for the navy on the west coast. The station was an important military base during the First and Second World War.

After the end of the Cold War, the naval training base was closed down in 1997, and the city of San Diego began transforming the naval base into Liberty Station as it is today: a neighborhood friendly location with restaurants, cultural activities, and public parks.
